Larrikin Mary

 Lost
There is nothing where Aaron's hut once stood, nothing tangible anyway just a sense of breathlessness and memory.

There is no monument
No marble or granite marker
No chiselled words
Nothing to tell the world
That here was an ending

The place where darkness overcame
And a friendship crumbled
One that had seemed built of stone
Or at least that is what it seemed
Before the world changed us all

There is no real truth
Only hazy stories
Second hand thoughts
Nothing to explain
To give understanding or peace

Two boys who became men
Forever linked in life as in death
Tied one to the other
Only us ever to know
The reason, the catalyst

Words and actions
Days, weeks and months
Then one moment
Irreversible choice
unthinkable done
