Larrikin Mary
Here Now
Old men in
shadowed corners
Talking over slow pints
On the rough floorboards
The
young dance, whirling
To music that is in their blood
Here is what we
are
Life left at the door
And we can sing
And dance fast and
furious
For we are alive
No colourful swirl of silk
Not in this
place
The skirts are brown and drab
But smiles are bright
And the
laughter is real
This is our place
Our respite from the world
To
talk, to remember
To drink and forget
Tomorrow will wait
